The History of Crypto Casino Volume, 2019–2026

Seven years of crypto casino deposits and withdrawals, reconstructed from 4.7M labelled on-chain transfers: monthly volume, 43 operators, market-cycle eras from the 2021 bull run to the 2026 peak, with coverage caveats stated.

$13.97B of gross flow across 4,723,325 labelled transfers, Dec 2019 – Aug 2026

$6.11B in deposits and $7.86B in withdrawals, from 804,248 distinct depositing addresses across 43 tracked operators. The single busiest month on record is Jul 2026 at $1.54B of observed deposits.

Operators entering coverage per year

Labelled-wallet coverage grew from 1 operator in 2019 to 43 today — read any year's volume together with the number of operators covered that year; early figures are a lower bound on a market we mostly could not yet see.

Operators no longer active

None. As of Aug 2026, every one of the 43 tracked operators shows on-chain activity within the last six months. An operator appears here only if we labelled its wallets and it then went silent for over six months. Operators that shut down before their wallets were labelled never enter the dataset, so an empty list does not mean no crypto casino has ever closed — it means none of the tracked ones has gone silent.

How this archive is built — and what it cannot show

Every figure on this page is aggregated from the wagerdb registry of publicly labelled casino wallets: 4.7 million on-chain transfers across eight chains, valued in USD at transfer time, grouped by calendar month from December 2019 onward. A "deposit" is a transfer into a labelled operator wallet, a "withdrawal" a transfer out of one. Nothing is self-reported by any casino.

The dataset is published as a single JSON file (linked below) so the numbers here can be checked and reused. Journalists and researchers are welcome to cite it; the per-month operator count column exists precisely so that coverage growth can be separated from market growth.

The coverage caveat, stated plainly

Our labelled-wallet coverage grows over time. One operator is covered from December 2019; most of the 43 entered coverage in 2025 and 2026. Early years therefore show a small number of observed transfers even though the real market was larger, and the growth curve on this page mixes two things: a growing market and a widening lens. The operator-count line on the chart and the entries-per-year table are the correction — quote figures together with the operator count for that period.

The same caveat applies to individual operators: a casino's "first active month" is when we first observed a labelled wallet, which is a lower bound on when it started taking crypto deposits, not a founding date.

What this does not capture

Unlabelled wallets are invisible. An operator whose wallets we have not identified contributes nothing, and partial labelling understates a covered operator. Casinos that shut down before their wallets were ever labelled leave no trace here at all — the "gone operators" section can only list tracked operators that went silent, not every casino that has ever closed.

USD values are computed at the transfer's own day rate, so the series is a volume measure, not a mark-to-market of any treasury. Off-chain activity — internal ledgers, fiat rails, sportsbook settlement — is out of scope by definition.

Frequently asked questions

How much crypto casino volume has wagerdb tracked in total?

As of the latest build, about $14.0 billion in combined deposits and withdrawals across 4.72 million labelled on-chain transfers from December 2019 onward — $6.1B in deposits and $7.9B in withdrawals. Withdrawals exceeding deposits is expected: deposits arrive in many small transfers while operators consolidate and pay out from shared hot wallets, and our labelling covers operator payout wallets more completely than the long tail of player deposit addresses.

Why does volume look tiny before 2024?

Because coverage was tiny. In 2021 we observe under a hundred transfers across two labelled operators; the real market was far larger. The per-month operator count published with every data point is there so that coverage growth is never mistaken for market growth.

When did tracked volume peak?

In July 2026, at about $1.54 billion in observed deposits in a single month — more than the entire tracked total for every prior year combined. That record sits on top of 43 concurrently tracked operators, the widest coverage in the dataset.

Can I reuse this data?

Yes. The full monthly series, per-operator lifetimes and era aggregates ship as public JSON at /data/archive-2019-2026.json, and the monthly table on this page downloads as CSV. Cite "wagerdb.com on-chain casino archive" with the retrieval date; figures are rebuilt from the live registry and can grow.
